What is WACC?

WACC (Women Against Cervical Cancer) is an initiative that aims to improve awareness of HPV and cervical diseases, and to make cervical cancer prevention a top priority on women's and public health agendas.

WACC was created - and will continue to be guided - by medical experts at the forefront of the field of cervical cancer, who will call on the skills of others with expertise in public health, education and project management to progress its work.

The aims of WACC

WACC aims to drive improvements in health education, knowledge, informed choices and better health for women.

It will help to solve the problem of lack of information and understanding about cervical cancer, so women everywhere can take steps to reduce their risk of developing this devastating disease.

By increasing knowledge and awareness:

  • women would be empowered to demand better access to cervical screening and HPV vaccination
  • health professionals would be able to offer more and better support
  • the authorities would be encouraged to provide the necessary resources

and the scourge of cervical disease could be dramatically reduced.
